Giving Back

Blue Rock Gives Back

At Blue Rock, we believe in taking care of our neighbors, building up their strengths,
and rising together. It’s how we support our employees, our candidates, our clients, and
goes beyond the walls of our firm out to our communities, too.
A team made up of individuals from all walks of life are bound to have diverse interests,
and that includes foundations and charities that are near and dear to the heart. This
allows Blue Rock to reach a wide array of organizations doing important work. It is our
privilege and our pleasure to support the passions of our team and help in even the
smallest of ways whenever the opportunity arises.

Through our Blue Rock Gives Back Program, our team members have the opportunity
to choose a cause that is meaningful to them, and on a monthly basis, Blue Rock
donates to two of the chosen charitable organizations on behalf of its employees.

Blue Rock Give-Back Program

I have had personal experience within my family with Alzheimer’s and it is a devastating disease to watch a family member experience. My hope is that less families will have to experience this as we continue to learn more about the disease, preventative measures, and potential treatments.

Americans Helping Americans provides real help where people need it most. Their community-based model is all about building relationships and finding sustainable, long-term solutions. It’s great to support a charity that meets people where they are and gives them the tools to build the kind of future where they, and future generations, can thrive.”

“I have a personal passion for this organization that is proactively linking the Latino community in East TN with educational, civic, & economic opportunities in the area. Centro Hispano offers a unique focus on enabling Latinos to positively impact their communities. “

“Run entirely by donations, grants, and volunteer labor, the popover café runs a distribution program to deliver fresh soup and other pantry staples to senior residences and others who cannot make it out to the café or are dealing with food insecurity on Mount Desert Island in Maine.”

The charity I’d like to donate towards is the Environmental Working Group. Since 1993, the Environmental Working Group has shined a spotlight on outdated legislation, harmful agricultural practices and industry loopholes that pose a risk to our health and the health of our environment. They educate consumers with actionable information and inspire demand for safer products, which ultimately helps all of us!

“I have chosen Hospicio de San Jose as my charity of choice because of their unwavering dedication to providing care and support to underprivileged and marginalized children in the Philippines.”

“Sticking to my hometown roots, I’ve chosen Roanoke, Virginia-based LEAP (Local Environmental Agriculture Project) as the 501(c)3 non-profit to which I’d like Blue Rock to donate. As someone who passionately committed much of his twenties to regenerative farming and ranching, I support and believe in LEAP’s mission “to nurture healthy communities and resilient local food systems” through connecting the local farmers, food producers, culinary entrepreneurs and community members.”

“I am a firm believer in the power of thought. Make-A-Wish Foundation is founded on similar principles…’A wish can be that spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses.’ When a child’s wish comes true, little do they know that their inspiring stories are powerful catalysts for many to finally begin living their best lives; their experience ignites the community involved and ironically, many are changed to believe that anything is possible themselves.”

Mission of Hope is a very important charity in the East Tennessee Region as we are fortunate to have the mountains of Appalachia in our backyard. Mission of hope provides a much-needed service of charitable assistance to the families in need in Rural Appalachia. Being born and raised in East Tennessee this is a cause I am very passionate about supporting.”

I support the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation because my brother passed away from this cancer in 2019. He was only 47.

“I support National Alliance on Mental Illness because I think it is so important to always be aware of other people and what they may be enduring in one’s life. Now more than ever with the environment we live in, it is important to take care of your mental health and provide support to anyone who is in need. Spreading awareness and effort is the start of decreasing mental illness stigma.”

“I have had personal experience with ovarian cancer and my hope is that with their research they can fully understand the origin and find new ways to prevent it or discover more effective treatments.”

“The charity that is most important to me is Providence House. Providence House is a crisis nursery committed to child abuse prevention and family preservation in the Cleveland area.”

“I choose this organization as it is near to my heart. There was a time when my mother and brother both stayed here as my brother underwent several surgeries as a child. I love the fact that this organization provides families with a place to stay as their going through an extremely difficult time. It takes some of the financial burden away from an already stressful situation.”

Katie explained that cancer is extremely common in her family and that she has lost numerous family members and friends to this disease. She currently has an aunt battling skin cancer.

“Rob Machado is a professional surfer who resides in my old neighborhood in San Diego. Surfing and the ocean have been a huge part of my world and have brought the most amazing people and times into my life since childhood. Now It would be great to give back to a charity that is bringing environmental education into kids’ lives, providing clean drinking water, and encouraging reusables over single-use plastic water bottles to help keep our water and beaches clean.”

“True Colors United implements innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ young people.”

“Established by Jim Valvano, the V Foundation’s, mission is to fund Cancer research to help find cures.  This is important to me because too many lives are lost each year to this horrible disease and it has taken people and animals close to me.  The famous speech by Mr. Valvano before he lost his battle with cancer was also very impactful and the words ‘Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.’ are ingrained in my memory.”

Latin for “swift cure”, VeloSano is a year-round fundraising initiative to support lifesaving cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. Since the inaugural ride in 2014, more than $24 million has been raised and 1OO% of those funds are hard at work in the fight against cancer.”
