The Associate Director, Brand Strategist is client-facing and will drive strategy for several key pharmaceutical clients as well as be an integral contributor within the department and agency. The ideal candidate is incessantly curious, a provocative and proactive strategic thinker who possesses a clear understanding of how to unlock customer insights and connect them with cultural and category trends to develop winning engagement strategies and customer experiences.

The ideal candidate will be a superb brand champion and communicator, energetic and savvy at seeking and gathering customer insight and developing strategically sound brand strategy recommendations that tie back to measurable business objectives in a customer-centric manner. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a savvy researcher, a commanding workshop facilitator and an author of inspiring creative briefs. You will build out the agency’s Bilateral Branding capabilities as well as representing strategic planning in new business pitches and leading brand strategy and stewardship, customer journey mapping and insights generation, market assessment and positioning, campaign development, customer experience, and omni-channel tactical planning for current clients. Furthermore, you will participate at the intersection of multiple disciplines including medical strategy, UX, analytics, creative, and account services where he or she will optimize the brand development and creative output and guide in-market execution and measurement.

What we expect from you:

  • Fueling curiosity, inspiring Bilateral thinking, and proactively challenging the status quo
  • Designing, developing, and facilitating client presentations and strategy workshops
  • Reporting on important cultural and marketplace trends and their application/impact on client business
  • Partnering with medical strategy, UX, analytics, creative, and account services in the development of creative briefs, brand strategies, and tactical plans
  • Employing a variety of appropriate research techniques to map the customer journey and identify customer needs/motivations, behaviors, critical barriers, and drivers
  • Collaborating with brand and medical strategists to pull through brand strategy into engagement plans, new business pitches, and content recommendations
  • Partnering with creative to craft omni-channel narratives
  • Partnering with UX, creative, and account services to shape tactical opportunities and measurement plans
  • Proactively uncovering client opportunities, engaging with key stakeholders to drive organic growth, and reporting back on engagement performance
  • Contributing or leading the creation of new strategy workstreams that drive client growth and agency relationship and revenue
  • Demonstrating the ability to review analytics and data insights to inspire and guide customer engagement strategy and content optimization plans
  • Displaying competence in the strategies of SEO and SEM, including keyword research and metadata strategy
  • Offering excellent presentation, communication, and written abilities
  • Self-Motivated and driven by a can-do entrepreneurial spirit


  • 5-7 years of experience in brand strategy at an advertising agency
  • 3+ years of experience in digital marketing, content strategy, and/or social media management
  • Passionate about improving healthcare communications and working with pharma/biotech brands
  • Thorough understanding of brand development strategies and omni-channel marketing strategy
  • Experience in reading market and customer analytics reports and familiarity with omni-channel data-tracking tools (eg, MS Excel, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, reporting management dashboards)
  • Proven track record of teamwork and collaboration
  • Client-facing skills and the ability to write clear and concise presentations for summarizing insights, experiences, outcomes, and implications in straight-forward and enlightening ways for clients
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and account team members on digital trends, processes, and best practices
  • Ability to build, facilitate, and moderate client and internal workshops
  • Experience with global clients and regional execution
  • Experience with brand strategy principles
