One of our key clients is looking for a Construction Manager. A restaurant chain that started over 40 years ago as a single restaurant with a casual, family oriented atmosphere that has grown into a leading regional brand with over 200 franchised restaurants and growing primarily in in California with additional locations in Oregon, Arizona and Utah. Aggressive growth targeted in CA and other states in the Western U.S. over the next five years. Their restaurants are designed to accommodate those seeking a family-oriented, casual dining environment along with delivery and carryout.

The Construction Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Development. Primary responsibility will be overseeing the successful completion and turnover of restaurants to the brands restaurant standards in a timely manner. The ideal candidate works effectively with architects, design & construction vendors, and franchisees throughout the process to ensure design standards are accurately delivered. Reviewing preliminary floor plans which include the furniture and equipment layout developed by the architect to ensure it meets the expectations of the brand.


  • Assist the Area Developers and Franchisees in developing a project budget and schedule for each location
  • Review construction drawings provided by the Franchisee’s Architect prior to submittal of plans
  • Coordinate invitations to bid projects on behalf of the franchisees though Franchisor’s qualified list of General Contractors and design & construction vendors
  • Evaluate all construction bids and make recommendations to the Franchisee
  • Monitor progress and quality of each construction project with regularly scheduled site visits and providing proper guidance to the General Contractors and Construction vendors
  • Perform punch list site walks to ensure Franchisees and their General Contractor’s work is done to the company's brand standards
  • Supervise and manage franchisee remodels to ensure Area Developers and Franchisees are following the store remodel requirements
  • Provide weekly updates to the Development team for the pipeline report

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • 5-7 years’ experience in construction management for a multi-unit restaurant chain or working with the chains
  • Knowledge of all key architecture, engineering, and construction management principles associated with multi-unit restaurants
  • Must be willing to be in the field at construction projects 15+ hours per week
  • Must be willing to travel 40%+ of the time
  • Ability to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills to interact with personnel at all levels
  • Understands the importance of timelines, budgets, and project management
