Salary range: $95,000 to $135,000, based upon experience

The Director of Transfer Recruitment plays a pivotal role in the recruitment and enrollment of transfer students at Manhattan College and will serve in a leadership capacity in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The Director of Transfer Recruitment will be tasked with designing and implementing strategic initiatives consistent with Manhattan College’s overall enrollment objectives. Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, s/he will manage the transfer application process, facilitate on- and off-campus transfer events, maintain relationships with community colleges, and work with appropriate members of the central advising office to ensure efficient evaluation of transfer credit. The Director of Transfer Recruitment will consistently collaborate with other directors within the College’s Enrollment Management Division to supervise and train professional support staff in all matters relating to transfer admissions goals.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, Leadership, or other related field, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five to seven years of experience in Transfer Admission.
  • Familiarity with, and management of, articulation agreements—both current and future opportunities.
  • Appreciation for the Catholic mission of the institution.
  • Good driving record.
  • Knowledge of Banner and Slate preferred.
  • Self-motivated to perform tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties include:


  • Help develop and set a clear strategic plan; including goals, objectives, and performance metrics for transfer enrollment.
  • Contribute to Enrollment Management’s financial aid plan to support planned transfer enrollment.
  • Provide leadership support and direction for transfer admission strategies, including admission counselors and support staff.
  • Manage one direct report—the Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions.

Enrollment Management

  • Analyze market trends, competitor practices, and student data to inform decision-making.
  • Utilize data to make data-driven decisions and refine recruitment strategies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to transfer admission and enrollment.
  • Prepare regular reports for university leadership, summarizing admission trends and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and help redefine transfer credit evaluation process.
  • Work with the College’s Academic Advisors to refine and automate the transfer credit evaluation process.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs to ensure seamless articulation agreements and program transfer pathways.
  • Visit and foster outreach programs to support community-based organizations’ activities.
  • Create, recommend, and adjust admission policies and practices to optimize transfer student recruitment and enrollment efforts.
  • Participate in the daily operations of the admissions office, application review, and in recruitment and yield events including, but not limited to, open houses and admitted student days.
  • Assist students in transfer course selection, transfer plans, and preparations for admission into appropriate majors.


  • Work collaboratively with Director of Veteran’s Affairs on an as needed basis.
  • Complete work on-site at community colleges and community-based organizations a few days a week.
  • Build and maintain relationships with transfer advisors at community colleges and community-based organizations.
  • Work with an emerging transfer technology platform designed to support transfer student’s admission and enrollment experience.
  • Develop and carry out a robust communication campaign for lead generation, publications, social media, and events.
  • Plan and execute recruitment events, including transfer student information sessions, college fairs, campus visits, and community transfer clinics.
  • Participate in rotation for office coverage needs from group information sessions to phone call advising.
  • Provide comprehensive, individualized and small group advising to prospective transfer students.


  • Participates in the College community via committees, projects, and events. May represent the organization to external constituencies (e.g., take leadership roles in regional and/or national committees as well as professional organizations).


  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Desire to work as part of a team and understand the importance of teamwork.
  • Adept in handling confidential information.
  • Capacity to multi-task and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrate comfort with ambiguity and limited instruction when needed.
  • Familiarity with software and data analytics tools like Tableau, Excel, Google Apps and Microsoft Word.
  • Demonstrated excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds or more, on occasion.
  • Ability to sustain computer work for long periods of time.
  • Ability to drive for long periods of time.
