Description

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this high-visibility, high-impact role will lead our client’s efforts in the functional areas of executive compensation, total rewards philosophy, pay architecture, benefits plan design, and HR technology implementation across the company. The VP Total Rewards will build and lead a team, providing support to nearly 30,000 employees. The successful incumbent must first seek to understand business needs and then quickly build highly productive relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups to accomplish objectives. The ideal candidate for this role possesses a deep understanding of all aspects of executive compensation, inclusive of board prep, board pay, Compensation Committee engagement, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Key Priorities

  • Executive Compensation: Drive executive compensation strategy, including design, implementation, communication, and administration of programs. In partnership with CHRO, develop materials for Compensation Committee meetings; collaborate with committee members on pre/post-board meeting action items.
  • Benefits Design: Lead Benefits team in the development, execution, and communication of benefits programs. Own program changes and new plan rollouts, from initial recommendations to employee messaging. Head up the selection and management of all vendors, brokers, and administrative partners.
  • HR Tech: Partner with Directors of HR Technology & Corporate IT on the successful execution of upgrades/implementations (e.g. planned 2021 ERP implementation).
  • Analytics & Dashboards: Drive the development and cross-functional utilization of KPIs, analytics, and dashboards to influence HR/business decisions and proactively manage executive leadership expectations.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide pragmatic and innovative vision and leadership to total rewards that focuses on the whole employee and positively impacts business results.
  • Provide thought leadership and build total rewards programs that will ensure the organization meets its goals of attracting, engaging, and retaining the best talent.
  • Ensure programs are market-competitive, aligned with the organization’s values and business goals, and consistently administered in compliance with company policies and relevant government regulations.
  • Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer to: drive executive and broad-based compensation strategy, including design, implementation, communication, and administration; develop material for Compensation Committee meetings; collaborate with committee members on pre/post-board meeting action items.
  • Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer, executive leadership, and the communications team to develop, execute, and communicate key benefits and compensation programs.
  • Research and develop strategy for all benefits programs, with the support of brokers and vendors.
  • Prepare qualitative and quantitative analytics to support development of cost-effective benefits programs, including proposals for program changes, utilization, trends, and program analysis.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to business and HR leaders on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretations, and job evaluations – provide creative solutions when needed.
  • Contribute fully as a member of the Human Resources leadership team to address business issues with relevant HR strategies – even when outside the traditional scope of responsibilities.
  • Oversee the compensation administration process, including planning and implementation of annual salary reviews, increases, and short/long-term incentives.
  • Conduct research and analysis of compensation data, model financial impact of compensation plans and programs, and prepare recommendations to support business objectives.
  • Monitor compensation, benefits, and legislative trends in the competitive market – and ensure that the total rewards programs are designed to attract and retain high-performers and key talent.
  • Provide leadership in a “player/coach” style with team members.

Experience/Education/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in human resources, business administration, finance or a related field. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible compensation, benefits, and retirement administration experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Multi-lingual highly preferred. Multi-cultural/global exposure helpful.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with HRMS/ATS/API software preferred (platform agnostic).
