Melissa Alvarado is an executive search consultant for Blue Rock Search. Before joining Blue Rock, she was a Managing Partner for Darden Restaurants. Melissa started with Olive Garden, moved to its sister company, Long Horn Steakhouse, and was with Darden from 2012-2020. Previously, she was a General Manager for a privately owned brand. Melissa grew up in the restaurant business, as her father owned four restaurants, and she has a passion for cooking and customer service.

Melissa moved from New Jersey to Florida in 2011 to be able to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. One of her favorite things to do is cook and go to the beach. When she’s not enjoying feeding her family, she’s out with them kayaking or going on a nature walk or hike. When possible, they take their golden retriever, Xena, on their adventures too!
Fun Facts About Melissa
- Favorite Book- any psychological thriller. I enjoy reading outside on my lanai while laying in the sun
- Favorite pastime? Hobby?- Kayaking- love taking my three kids and husband kayaking on the weekends!
- I collect- sand from every beach I visit with husband and/or kids. We create it into a sand globe with rocks, stones, etc.

I support National Alliance on Mental Illness because I think it is so important to always be aware of other people and what they may be enduring in one’s life. Now more than ever with the environment we live in, it is important to take care of your mental health and provide support to anyone who is in need. Spreading awareness and effort is the start of decreasing mental illness stigma.
